Movie Reviews of True Grit
- True Grit: Coen Brothers have done it again - they have a winner. Jeff Bridges is excellent as Rooster Cogburn and Matt Damon does a very good job as LaBoeuf, Texas Ranger. The young actress Hailee Steinfeld, playing the part of Mattie, is a little over the top for me, but as the film goes along you get used to it. Excellent dialogue and the scenery is very authentic. This film is a very pleasant way to spend aboput 90 minutes
- True Grit. This is an excellent new version of the classic book. It was originally brought to film in the 60's starring John Wayne and it was very ambitious to attempt to tell the story again. Jeff Bridges did an excellent job of filling the role of Rooster Cogburn and Matt Damemon did likewise with Glen Campbell's TExas Ranger role. I though the movie was very well filmed and very entertaining. I don't think it competes with the John Wayne version but rather complements it with a modern film making bent.
