Movie Reviews of The Thin Red Line
- The Thin Red Line is quite possibly my favorite movie of all time. Released the same year as Saving Private Ryan, it was panned by the general public as the lesser of the two. Though, in truth, it wasn't meant to be a patriotic action film. The American public didn't know this. They didn't know the director and his rich history and indelible influence he's had in cinema, despite only having released two films some twenty years before. The Thin Red Line would be more accurately described as an anti-war film. A poetic, transcendent view of the effect of war on regular men. It's a reflection on the natural world, which seems to bask in war at all turns. Featuring an all-star cast of Hollywood elite, The Thin Red Line is a fluid masterpiece filled with fear and anger and confusion and hope.
