Movie Reviews of The Red Violin
- A crimson violin, painted with the blood of his dead wife, gives "The Red Violin" it's name and color. The woman goes to see a tarot card reader who begins recounting all the wonders that she will get to experience, all the places she will travel to. It quickly becomes apparent that because we've already seen this woman die, that the gypsy is instead telling the story of the violin that has been stained with her blood, and thus begins the instrument's great journey.
From musician to musician it travels, leaving happiness, sorrow and death in it's wake, affecting each person it touches in different and profound ways, perhaps even making them act passionately and out-of-character for their love of music and the great instrument.
With a glorious soundtrack, heart-wrenching melodies and an epic storyline that travels across the world and through time, "The Red Violin" stands to be one of my favorite movies for these reasons and many more.
