Movie Reviews of The Queen
- The Queen is a well scripted, beautifully acted piece, looking at the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Starring Helen Mirren, it looks at various periods of the queen's life from her early time on the throne, difficulties with her sister Margaret and how she dealt with the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.
There is enough opinion in the film to suggest that sources close to the Queen had some say in what was portrayed, and Prince Charles not so, as it does not paint him in such a good light.
It is full of small anecdote, such as the Queen helping with the washing up at Balmoral, and her being able to strip down the engine of a Range Rover thanks to her training in the WRENS during the war.
