Movie Reviews of The Blind Side
- I recently watched the Blind Side. I had heard that the movie was based on a true story and heard about others rave about it, so I decided to watch it. It was a remarkable story that touched my heart. The main character in the movie who was named Michael, was from a very poor/grief stricken family and it felt heart breakening to see him go through such circumstances. I felt an emotional connection to Michael when I was watching the movie. Imagine sleeping in the school gym at night, because there is no place to stay. That would be so difficult. I believe there are many people today that are homeless due to certain family conditions. Sarah Bullock was amazing in this film. She played her role extremely well and should be nominated for an oscar. This movie is suitable for the whole family to watch and it teaches great lessons about sharing, charity, emotions and life through difficult circumstances. This is truly amazing story. Everyone should go watch it.
- My husband and I went to see the movie "Blind Side" when it first came out and we thoroughly enjoyed it. That movie had such a great story and it was told in the best possible way. When a movie is based on real life, it makes the story so much more compelling. Since I have no experience with truly "rich" people, I thought the way this family handled the situation was so impressive, especially the two young children. Teenagers can be so cruel, but these two were exceptional. Most books, TV shows and movies make rich people seem very intolerant, especially with people of another race. This movie had everything: comedy, sorrow, and compassion. Since seeing the movie, we have also read the book and enjoyed that as much as the movie. If you have the chance, go to the movie and read the book. Usually I like to read a book first, and then go to the movie. In this case, I think going to the movie first is best.
- The Blindside is one of the best family movies and with a great message for anyone. There aren't many families that would take in a stranger, and treat them as if they were part of the family. What a better place this would be if more people truly cared about people, the way that they did. Everyone should see this movie at least once.
- Review of The Blind Side:
Just watched The Blind Side. I know, the movie has been appreciated world wide and won many awards. It had been on my " to watch" list for a long time now and I finally got a chance to watch it this weekend.
The story is extremely touching. It is hard to believe that in todays world where people are still grappling with issues like racism and violence, there are people like" the Touhey's " the real life couple from whom the movie is inspired, actually exist.
Sandra Bullock justified her character. her accent is remarkable. I had watched a few interviews of " Mrs. Touhey" after I watched the movie. I was amazed to see how well Sandra had depicted the character including the style , mannerisms and accent. It must have been a lot of work. And must say Sandra truly deserved the Oscar she got.
Watching the movie also reinforced the fact that it is so important to make our contribution to the society however little it might be. As they say, drop by drop fills the ocean!
Kudos to Sandra and her team!!
- I recently watched "The Blindside" on dvd. The story of a young teen, homeless, who grew to be an NFL star. The movie was so heartwarming. The fact that it was based on a true story, made it even better! The actor who played the young man, being an unknown actor, did an absolutely fantastic job. It's so uplifting to see someone who came from nothing and with the help of a kind family, made it all the way to the top.
- Went to see The Blindside. Was hoping for a good movie. It wasn't a good movie, it was an absolutely awesome movie. I can honestly say I have never been so touched by a movie. The story is heartwarming, and so very inspirational. The acting was superb as well. More than once there was barely a dry eye in the theater. I can't think of one single person who would not thoroughly enjoy this movie.
- My parents talked me into watching the BlindSide recently. It was such an amazing movie. I love true stories anyway, and the way Sandra Bullock portrayed the real life character was so honest, and studied, and true. It was an incredible performance. I give the movie 5 stars. I laughed, I cried, and I was left with a great feeling in the end.
- BlindSide 2009
THE BLIND SIDE is possibly the FEEL GOOD movie of 2009. It is a true story about the Baltimore Ravens’2009 Rookie, Michael Oher. Oher became a first round draft pick after overcoming great obstacles in his personal life. But, this is not just a football story. In fact, you do not need to even like football to enjoy this film. However, having love and compassion for people is really helpful! Certainly, THE BLIND SIDE is an inspiring and positive story about a homeless African- American teen taken in by a well-to-do white family in Memphis who is given a second chance for reaching his potential. This film is based on a book by Michael Lewis and directed by John Lee Hancock, who also directed, another inspirational sports movie, THE ROOKIES. Drama seasoned with lots of laughter keeps multi-generational audiences engaged. Sandra Bullock plays against type in this film as tough as nails designer clothed Leigh Tuohy, a Christian woman who does more than talk about her faith. This is probably the best role I’ve seen Bullock play in years. This is a strong woman with courage and compassion who is far from one dimensional. Momma Bear Bullock forms a special relationship with Michael that not only changes him but changes herself and her family as well. Jae Head as S.J. Tuohy, the first person at the Christian School, who talks with Michael is a real scene stealer in this. Kathy Bates as Miss Sue will crack you up as the teacher tutor who helps Michael with his studies. I also liked Tim McGraw as Sean Tuohy. This is one great inspirational family film you can take the entire family to and feel good coming out of. Do Not Miss It!!!
- I know that The Blind Side was supposed to be prestigious and a great work of art. It's supposed to be amazingly inspiring. Maybe it's just me (but let's remember everyone is entitled to an opinion) but I personally found the movie over the top and cheesy in it's can do attitude. What a shocker it is that the kid who's never slept in a bed then becomes a major football player. Yes, that is an amazing true story but I just found it predictable.
