Shoot 'Em Up is an absolutely over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek action extravaganza with a surprisingly good cast. Clive Owen plays the mysterious protagonist, identified as "the Nanny," who takes on the task of protecting and caring for a baby whose mother is killed in front of him. Paul Giamatti is his nemesis, a cruel and ruthless criminal who is constantly hassled by his wife on the phone. Much of the film consists of one over-the-top, cool but funny action sequence after another, full of acrobatic gunplay and even a couple of deaths-by-carrot (!). If you have a sense of humor, the stomach for a little violence, and the desire for a fun adrenaline rush, check this one out.
