Movie Reviews of Sherlock Holmes

  • I recently saw Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law. The action was very good and there were some clever techniques used in the narration of the story. However, I think the story itself was a little flat overall and the tone was uneven. Nevertheless, the performances were good.

  • The New Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes, and Jude Law as Watson is quite action packed but with some of the old feel that made some of the old Arthur Conan Doyle stories so endearing. Holmes puts a nefarious criminal(Lord Blackwood) behind bars, and even sees him hanged, only to have him seemingly come to life again and start committing crimes again. Lord Blackwood seems to be able to command the supernatural-how can Holmes possibly stop a man who cheated death itself? Downey is excellent playing Holmes as an analytical thinker, who doesn't give anything away until he has to, and who believes there is an explanation for everything. Jude Law serves well as his sometimes perplexed but faithful sidekick, and he um, kicks a little more ass than he did in the stories. This is almost standard Sherlock Holmes, but with more action. Enjoy!

  • I just watched "Sherlock Holmes" today. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law give excellent performances. The movie itself gives a good representation of a younger, more brash Sherlock, but still retains the crime solving and mystery element we come to expect from previous Sherlock movies and literature. To me, it is like watching the show "CSI" and a superhero movie all at once. This is a great movie in my opinion and is well worth the time to watch.
