Movie Reviews of Law Abiding Citizen
- Law Abiding Citizen 2009
Law Abiding Citizen is a thriller about a brilliant sociopath who orchestrates a series of high-profile murders that grip the city of Philadelphia - all from inside his jail cell - and the prosecutor assigned to his case who realizes he is the only one who can end the reign of terror. The plot focuses on a man who, ten years after his wife and daughter are brutally murdered, returns to extract justice from the assistant district attorney who prosecuted the case against their killers. His vengeance threatens not only the man who allowed mercy to supersede justice, but also the system and the city that made it so.
- Law Abiding Citizen, starring Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx, keeps the viewer on the edge-of-the -seat while telling a grim story about the justice system in our country. Butler plays a character that the viewer is made to sympathize but as the story twists and he takes a revenge stance on the system, it is unclear who the bad guys are and who the good guys are.
The story was intriguing but was definitely eclipsed by the massive explosions, the mass killings of law enforcement agents and Butler’s psychotic need for revenge. Jamie Foxx gave a very good performance as a slick DA, unsure of whom he is protecting anymore and Viola Davis was also well-suited for her role as the tough but collected, Mayor of Philadelphia. Gerard Butler plays the victim and the villain with precision.
This movie is certainly not for kids but would appeal to any age demographic between 18 and 55.
- Review of a "Law Abiding Citizen".
The concept in the beginning of the movie seems a little bit cliche. A husband, whose wife and daughter were murdered in front of him. A man, looking for justice. Looking for his own kind of justice-revenge. Sounds predictable-the good guy wins, and justice prevails. However, the movie had a new interesting twist. Slowly, the main character, who is supposedly the good guy, turns into a bad guy, and no justification can be found for his actions. I wasnt sure whether to be on his side or to condemn him, to feel sorry for him, or to hate him. Pretty interesting movie, definitely worth watching!
