Movie Reviews of Four Christmases

  • Four Christmases very apt this time of the year, was released in 2008. seems at first glance the towering Vince Vaughn and the petite Reece Witherspoon not a very good match for a romantic couple, but it works. Its loosely about a yuppie couple that hate the traditional Christmas visiting and spending time with their respective families. They want nothing more than to spend their Christmas on a beach, that is until a snowstorm stops them in their tracks. They have to visit 4 families in the one day as both their parents are divorced. Will their relationship last or be ruined forever by the outcome of Christmas day with the family.

Its a fun kind of movie, with nice acting by Robert Duvall and Mary Steenburger.
    worth a look.

  • Four Christmases.

Walking into this movie with almost no expectations definitely served me well. I've lost quite a bit of faith in Vince Vaughn over the course of his latest films, and I never had much appreciation for Reese Witherspoon to begin with.

As a man, I was pleasantly surprised by the performances given by the two respective leads. It wasn't jaw-dropping, heart-breaking, or Oscar worthy, but the characters managed to breathe some life into the dialog they were given, and I can safely say this movie is mostly devoid of the gag-reflex inducing corniness that pollutes movies in the Christmas / romantic comedy genre.

As a whole, this isn't a very strong film. That having been said, there were enough unique and unexpected scenes to make this movie worth watching. The first 20 minutes of the movie were very clever and well crafted.

I wouldn't purposely avoid this movie so long as you don't have your hopes very high, and don't expect a traditional holiday message. You may even walk out with a few memorable quote-worthy moments.

  • Four Christmases is a hilarious movie about the experiences of holidays with the family. You'll be laughing from the beginning to the end. Vince Vaughn and Reece Witherspoon make the perfect couple in this comedy.
