Movie Reviews of Black Swan

  • Movie Name:Black Swan (2010)
Yesterday I saw this movie.Fantastic completely worth the wait! For me it is more than a one time watch. Beautifully done and yes she does deserve an Oscar. It was a captivating movie and I can't understand why so many people had so many questions after seeing it. What I really liked was the way the director mirrored both the mother and daughters issues so that they recognized one another's problems yet refused to reflect upon their own. I also love how he used Lilly's character although it seems to have left some viewers confused as to what role she played throughout. I suppose the only thing I might have wanted different was to see the last interaction with Beth play out a bit more, but I can see why they chose to leave it the way it is.

  • "Black Swan" is melodramatic but effective. This is a tour de force for Natalie Portman who appears in nearly every scene. Darren Aronofsky, director of "The Wrestler" and "Requiem for a Dream," once again brings out the performance of a lifetime from Ms. Portman as he did for Mickey Rourke in Wrester and Ellen Burstyn in Requiem.

  • Black Swan was by far one of the most stellar films of 2010. It takes viewers inside the competitive world of ballerinas and within the mind of a psychotic dancer seeking perfection. Despite being a film that revolves around dancing, Black Swan keeps its audience intrigued and satisfied. The viewers watch Nina (Natalie Portman) strive for perfection when she is chosen to be Swan Queen of the Swan Lake production. Nina is able to portray the White Swan with her accurate technique and innocence, but is unable to fully represent the Black Swan, which is a more darkly sensual character. She begins to feel threatened by Lily (Mila Kunis), another dancer of the production, when Lily shows that she is the perfect seductive Black Swan. With the piling amount of stress, Nina goes through various bizarre hallucinations and experiences that help her develop into the Black Swan that she needs to be. The story of Black Swan is parallel to the story of Swan Lake. Although there were bits of gore and sexual scenes, I still recommend that you watch it before the year concludes, unless you have a weak stomach that is. There are a few scenes that might leave you in a state of fright, for example, photos talk, Nina’s body transforms into a swan, Nina pulls a strip of skin off her thumb, and etc. Nevertheless, you’ll be left amazed by both the story and the incredible performances by Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, who shine as actresses and dancers.
