Whatever he needs to live his solitary life is packed in his suitcase. He is very successful when it comes to controlling his life. And it is his success that enables him to even lecture others how to do so. He has also managed himself very well in keeping himself away from emotional blips.
However in Up in the Air, Ryan faces a change as his destiny when first he meets Alex played by Farminga, who is a stranger that is just like him. They meet quit often but accidently with a sort of relationship which endangers to bring an emotional side of relationship in Ryan’s life.
Then there is another change in Ryan’s life when another office mate Natalie played by Anna Kendrick, joins as a new employee and figures out that there is a cheap way of doing Ryan’s job i.e. by doing it over the internet instead of flying around the country which is costing company very high. Obviously Ryan disagrees to this idea which in turn results in taking Natalie to his job in order to show her that how effective it is to do it properly.
