Movie Review of Alvin and the chipmunks
Director: Betty Thomas
Cast: Zachary Levi, David Cross, Jason Lee, Justin Long
Review:
It is hard to justify the existence of Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel , with movies like cloudy with a chance of meatballs, Princess and the frog, where the wild things are, coraline and up, around the corner. It seems like that it is just an act to grab some cash using the brand value. In this movie, after enjoying the life of stardom, chipmunks are forced to attend school. Meanwhile there is an entry of an all girl chipmunks band. The chipmunks meet chipettes and soon they fall in love but then there comes a twist in story that they are supposedly rivals as they were with Ian. Both of the bands run for schools competition. With the same old story that greedy Ian over shadows emotions of all chipettes, soon chipettes found themselves caged by Ian. They call chipmunks for help and get rescued.
The movie is critically panned worldwide. It is low on energy but is able to mark an impression over kids. It doesn’t explain the wasteful use of voices of celebrities like Christina Applegate, Anna Faris, and Amy Poehler. The movie contains forgivably silly fun that is harmless and will make kids happy while keeping adults amused for most of the part. The chipmunks are cute as before but the story is insanely predictable even for ones who are watching it for the first time. Zachary Levi is the only bad element of Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, who is very annoying. The cartoons are more funny with punches than Zachary Levi. In short, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, is funny and witty but not that good as compared to the older version.
